I'm mapping out my learning and career goals for 2025, but first, I'd like to reflect on where I am. Here's how I would use the start, stop, and continue (SSC) framework to navigate my 2025 goals.

Start | What do I want to start doing in 2025?

I want to start narrowing my scope of learning.

Throughout 2024, I felt my attention going in multiple directions. I was finishing a web dev bootcamp focused on JavaScript (React and Node.js). My workplace started a project using the dotnet framework. I went deeper with Azure certifications by earning the Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305) and Azure AI Engineer Associate (AI-102).

Making progress in multiple areas made me wonder what my progress would look like if I limited myself to one topic.

Stop | What do I want to stop doing in 2025?

I want to stop spending on learning resources.

I picked up several book bundles from Humble Bundle that touch on DevOps topics. While having a paid resource like KodeKloud, spending more time on the learning platform made sense. Consequently, I've made minimal progress through my ebook collection. On top of that, I've collected a variety of links to YouTube content that I'd like to get through.

It feels wasteful to purchase something and not make use of it.

Continue | What do I want to continue doing in 2025?

I want to continue tracking my learning in a dev log.

Logging my learning progress through various topics helped me stay organized in 2024. The log was useful when sharing notes with coworkers. Knowing where I stopped at a previous learning session made it easy to get started after a break from studying.

Continuing to track, combined with the smaller set of topics to learn, should make it easier to blog about.

Have you heard of the SSC framework before? How do you use it for your goals? Let me know in the comments. I'd love to hear from you.
